About Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah (popularly abbreviated as RAK) is the northernmost and fourth-largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates known for its beaches. The place is fast growing to become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations and offers more than just palm trees and sandy beaches. Amongst other things, the city boasts of Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak and a part of the spectacular Hajar mountain range. This is also home to the Jebel Jais Zipline which happens to be the World’s longest zipline, starting from the top of Jebel Jais and ending somewhere in the foot of the Hajar Mountains. This place is a mine for adventure enthusiasts from across the globe and perfect for those seeking some adrenaline rush.
Located in the northernmost part of the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah literally translates to ‘top of the tent’. This place is said to be the oldest settlement in the UAE and has a rich history dating back almost 7,000 years. Once a prosperous port in the Arabian Gulf, this emirate was an important trading site and world-famous for the exquisite pearls available here. RAK is noted for its diverse topography— from mountains to the rolling sand dunes and sparkling beaches. Besides, its modern highways and easy connectivity with its neighboring emirates are turning it into a flourishing tourist destination.
The city can also make for an ideal weekend getaway for those looking forward to some quiet time. From breathtaking views to magnificent landscapes, visitors can take a dip in the Khatt Springs— best known for their precious stones treatment and other relaxing facilities. Learn about the 7000-year-old history of UAE and also the rich Emirati culture and heritage in the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum. Whether in the desert or the mountains, this place is also popular for overnight camping.
Amongst other things, the must-visit places in Ras Al Khaimah include the famous Dhayah Fort— the highest hilltop fort in the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah beach that’s packed with resorts, restaurants, cafes, and other facilities. Another interesting and unique opportunity visitors can find only in Ras Al Khaimah is the Suwaidi Pearl Farm. The port that was once an active setting for pearl diving now has its own cultured pearl farm from where people can find a treasure of pearls.
For those wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of busy city life, this is the perfect place to live in. Compared to the other emirates, RAK offers a lower cost of living as well as affordable luxury properties. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to keep one engaged. Not to forget, wildlife roams freely here, so don’t be surprised if you encounter a wild goat or maybe even the Arabian oryx while on the streets. Amongst other attractions, this place is also home to about 1000 archaeological sites and one of the best-preserved traditional fishing villages in the gulf. This emirate may be a little underrated, but trust us, Ras Al Khaimah is a must-visit and will not disappoint you for sure.
