Qatar currency: Denominations and type
Qatari Riyal (QAR or QR) is the official currency of Qatar. 1 Qatari riyal is divided into 100 dirhams. The Qatar currency notes are available in the following denominations:
- The ancient Dhow (Bateel), the Oyster, and Pearl Monument are featured in QR 1.
- An ancient desert location including the fauna (Arab horses, Camel, Oryxes), flora (Al Qataf), and ‘hair tent’ (Buryuut Hajar) is featured in QR 5.

Banks and their timings
Firstly, you do not have to go hunting for a bank to withdraw your money. There are thousands of ATMs around to withdraw from your personal account directly. You can find them in shopping malls, metro stations, supermarkets, streets, grocery, alomot any and everywhere. So no sweats! There is a possibility that you might have to incur a small fee during transaction.
In case you really need to visit a bank remember this. In Qatar, office hours are in two shifts, from 7:30 am to 12 pm and from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Bank timings are from Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 1 pm.
